With the idea in mind of the end pose for delta's action in this specific scene, I simply started to sketch the frames out from his initial pose, reaching on his final pose with 9 different frames. I used this process throughout the scenes that had 'action' in it to make the process easier.
The way that I planned out the visual did not require much exaggeration. So majority of the animation were just in-betweens. The slight exaggeration that it had were weight shifts in this scene.
Delta Slams [Frame 1]
Delta Slams [Frame 9]
In the example, I increased the size of Delta's fists as it crashed onto the ground to make it so that it creates an illusion of perspective and size.
Other than that extreme, the rest of the scenes were mostly keyframes with in-betweens; such as this scene with the fire flickers in the background.
Burning Village [Frame 1]
Burning Village [Frame 4]
This process was quiet smooth as it did not require a lot of extremes and the action scenes were more straightforward. However in the future maybe I would consider shortening the story of the animation in general so I can focus more upon the 'movement' of the ''camera' of the scenes and explore more upon the perspectives and extreme aspects to give the animation more liveliness.
Final Animation
For the final animation, I followed the animatic however changed a few scenes just to make the time of the animation shorter and more feasible to work on. In the end, I decided to cut out one of the running scenes; the top view running scene to make time for other scenes. Moreover since a running scene is already included, it was redundant to have two in different angles.
In conclusion, this project although was over the 30 second time limit for the animation content, however it is able to tell a better story with a good introduction to the motive for the main character. In the future, I would like to animate a smooth fighting scene with more perspectives like first person as I believe it would be very interesting and will help develop my skills in animating flashy and fast action scenes.
